Oh to have the body of an Asian woman!

Ni hao from Hong Kong everybody! That's right, I passed the thermal imaging machines with strep throat. Hallelujah! All thanks to the two DayQuil and three Advil I popped about an hour before landing. Oh and prayers!!! As funny as it would be to say I got quarantined in Hong Kong right as I got off the plane, it would be equally as miserable. (For those of you who don't follow my tweets, I found out I have strep throat the day I left to HK, I also found out that day that in HK it sickness is NOT allowed, and when you step off the plane they take your temperature through thermal imaging machines. Temperature in HK=quarentine in HK). I beat the system!

The longest part of the plane ride was from LA to Taipei, Taiwan. Thanks to NyQuil, I slept 10 hours (straight) of the 15 hour ride. So it went by pretty quickly. Except when the stewardess' gave us this food, then it went slow. Gross!

When we got to Taipei, we felt really foreign. Mostly because of the toilets, which we weren't brave enough to figure out to use.

After we got to HK and showered (flying for a long time makes you inexplicably dirty), we ate lunch. Hermana thought it would be a good idea to be adventurous and eat things she couldn't identify. I mean, we are in HK after all! Baaaaaad idea Hermana, we are in asia. She ate something she thought was chicken. It was chicken, but chicken's feet. Guh-ross! It's a good thing we have Don around, who took it off her plate and ate the rest of it for her.

After eating chickens feet for lunch, we decided to go a little more mainstream for dinner- the nicest pizza hut ever. Sit down and Italian tunes in the background. That is where we saw the "American Adventure" pizza, OFFENDED!

Last night we also went to the "ladies market"-think of flea market with tents and stuff. This is where they sell the name brand purses and watches in the sketchiest of ways. But I'm not complaining because I got a cute Marc Jacob's bag from some really sketchy long pinky finger nailed man.

The ladies in the Ladies Market
Today is Jamie's Birthday in HK (which I need to make a separate celebratory post about altogether)! We've celebrated by eating at the tiniest McDonalds with the smallest chairs and smallest orange juices.

We also walked around and got to visit some awesome markets:

It is early afternoon here so we will be doing some more celebrating to do later tonight. Happy Bday Jamie! I love you!

Until next time! Biah biah!

  8. Isn't Hong Kong the most amazing place ever? And you probably did notice, that the Chinese/Hong Kong people think that American's LOVE corn. They put it on just about every American dish. Uh, yuck. And the chicken feet debacle, also gross. But it is nice to know that us Americans, can depend on Pizza Hut being the nicest restaurant around and McDonald's can always pull through for us.

BIG BUDDHA is amazing. It is gorgeous, and the hike to get up there, holy steps.

I hope that your stay was very enjoyable and thanks for blogging and tweeting. And your poor feet. I'm sorry. ugh. ha Love and miss you. (See you soon!)

  9. oh, and I forgot to mention the toilets/hole in the ground. Is it NOT THE hardest thing you've ever had to do? They did not invent those with ladies in mind. The squatters were seriously the death of me...
